MLA is a format for writing, editing and citing sources when completing a research paper. It was created by the Modern Language Association and is primarily used in literature, languages, and the arts. When using the MLA format, you should consult the MLA Handbook or your writing handbook, which can be found at the library if you do not have one already. Please see the MLA libguide for more information and help. Currently, MLA is available in two editions: 7th edition and 8th edition. LSSC will begin using MLA 8th edition in fall 2017.

For more assistance with writing in MLA style you can ask your professor or an LSSC librarian.
