How do I cite Film & TV in APA Style?

Answer

Film, Video, or DVD

Credit the director of a film as the author. If the director is unknown, credit someone in a similar role. It is not necessary to specify how you watched a film unless you need to specify the version used. Provide the Production Company or companies in the source element of the reference and separate multiple production companies with a semicolon. See also APA Manual, 7th ed. 10.12, ex. 84-85

.

Example:
Turteltaub, J. (Director). (2004). National Treasure [Film]. Buena Vista Pictures; Walt Disney Studios.

TV Series

If the series spans multiple years, include the year span. If the series is still airing, replace the second year with the word “present”. See also APA Manual, 7th ed. 10.12, ex. 86
