Use the template below to cite entire books. See also APA, 10.2

Author’s last name, First initial. Second Initial. (Year of Publication). Title of the book: Subtitle of the book. Publisher. DOI or URL

Book with DOI

Use a DOI if available, even if you used the print version of the book.

Dring, G. (2015). Finding a voice: Family therapy for young people with anorexia. Routledge. https://doi.org/10.4324/9780429474767

Book without a DOI in Print or from a Database

Massey, I. (2018). Necessary nonsense: Aesthetics, history, neurology, psychology. Ohio State University Press.
Pickar, G. D., & Abernethy, A. P. (2013). Dosage calculations (9th ed.). Delmar Cengage Learning.

eBook from a Website

Nussey, S. & Whitehead, S. (2001). Endocrinology: An integrated approach. BIOS Scientific Publishers. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK22/

Books with one or more editors as the author

If a book has two publishers use both separated by a semi-colon as in Trimble example.

Trimble, D. (Ed.). (2018). Basic concepts of brief strategic family therapy: Meeting in sacred space. Springer; Cham. https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-77410-7

Books by Corporate Authors

For books with corporate or group authors, spell out the name in the reference list may be abbreviated in the text.

American Association of Colleges of Nursing. (2019). Nursing programs. Thomson/Peterson’s.

When the author and the publisher are the same, omit the publisher element.

American Heart Association. (2018). BLS for healthcare providers.

Book Chapters

Never cite a book chapter separately unless the chapter is written by a different author than the book author. If there are no author names with the chapters, cite the whole book. See the FAQ: How do I cite Book Chapters in APA Style?
