How do I reference a journal article in MLA Style?

Answer

Print Journal Articles

To cite print journal articles in MLA style you need the elements below. Print articles are ones where you are holding the journal in your hand. If an element is missing, skip it. See also MLA Handbook, 9th edition p. 319.

Author' last name, first name. "Title of Article." Title of Journal, vol. # (volume number, if available), no. # (issue number, if available), year of publication, page number(s).

For an article from a database, add the database information after citing the print article. Use the permalink or stable url provided by the database. See also MLA Handbook, 9th edition p. 320.
