How Do I Cite the Occupational Outlook Handbook in APA style?

Answer

The Occupational Outlook Handbook  (OOH)is a publication of the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), that originated in print form with page numbers. The online version does not include page numbers, only individual sections which should always be cited individually. The author of each chapter is the office within the BLS that is responsible for the content, Office of Occupational Statistics and Employment Projections.

Follow the examples below to properly cite this source. See also APA, 10.3 ex. 38-44

Examples:

When using various sections of a career listing, follow the example below. Cite only the main listing, unless your teacher instructs otherwise.

Office of Occupational Statistics and Employment Projections. (2024, April 17). Financial clerks. In Occupational outlook handbook. United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. https://www.bls.gov/ooh/office-and-administrative-support/financial-clerks.htm

You can also cite single sections of the career listing, but this but this is only recommended if you are only using one section of the listing.

Office of Occupational Statistics and Employment Projections. (2024, April 17). Financial clerks: Work environment. In Occupational outlook handbook. United States Bureau of Labor Statistics. https://www.bls.gov/ooh/office-and-administrative-support/financial-clerks.htm
