Students using the Learning Center are expected to follow the guidelines below to ensure a supportive and productive environment for all.
Come Prepared: Bring necessary materials, including textbooks and notes. Complete assigned readings and review materials the instructor provides before arriving at the Learning Center.
Maintain Academic Integrity: Learning Center staff are not permitted to assist with graded tests, quizzes, or take-home exams.
Actively Participate: Use the Learning Center as a support tool while working through your assignments independently. Attempt problems and ask questions when needed. The Staff is here to support—not replace—your learning efforts.
Stay Focused: Conversations should remain respectful and relevant to your academic work. Keep phone use brief and non-disruptive.
Communicate Clearly: Let Learning Center staff know what your goals are and which specific topics you would like to review.
Be Mindful of Tutor Availability: Tutoring is offered on a drop-in basis; others may also be waiting for assistance. We kindly ask that students remain flexible to allow time for everyone to receive support.
Be Respectful: Treat fellow students and staff with courtesy, and follow all posted Learning Center guidelines.
Additional Reminders:
To help maintain a quiet and focused environment, only current LSSC students or prospective students taking the PERT for admission may use the Learning Center. (Admin Pro 2-06)
We kindly ask that parents remain in the designated public areas while tutoring sessions are in progress.
Children and pets are not allowed, with the exception of service animals.
Light snacks are welcome, but please no meals—and remember to clean up after yourself.
Failure to follow these expectations may result in restriction of use of Learning Center spaces.
