How do I format a header and add a page number in Google Docs for an APA or MLA paper?

Answer

In APA style, the header for a student paper has just a page number. In Google Docs, go to Insert > Headers & Footers to open the header area. Right-align the cursor and follow the steps below to insert a page number.

In MLA style, the header includes the student's last name and a page number. In Google Docs, go to Insert > Headers & Footers to open the header area. Then, right-align the cursor, type the student's last name, and follow the steps below to insert a page number.
