What is the PERT?

Answer

The PERT assessment is meant  to determine whether you are ready for college level classes. Ultimately, your score on the test will place you into either college-prep or college-level courses. The PERT is not a PASS/FAIL test, and it is not a measure of intelligence; it is simply an assessment of your academic preparedness. Consequently, the more seriously you take the test, the more likely you are to prepare appropriately.

Although students want to start college-level classes immediately, it is often more advisable to take those classes that are accurately leveled to where you are as a student. Some students decide to take courses for which they are not prepared, and they often end up struggling through the semester, feeling lost and discouraged, withdrawing from the course, or maybe even failing. The PERT assists you in making a decision that is appropriate for you and assists you with your College success.
