MSSC
The Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) is an industry-led, training, assessment, and certification system focused on the core skills and knowledge needed by the nation’s front-line production and material handling workers. MSSC aims to increase the productivity, quality, and competitiveness of the manufacturing and logistics workforce. The MSSC certification exam for NOCTI Business is a nationally recognized assessment designed to validate students’ knowledge in business, workplace readiness, and employability skills.
General Information
- Students must create an account with MSSC prior to taking the assessment.
- Students are responsible for knowing which of the 4 CPT (Certified Production Technician) assessments they are taking: 1) Safety, 2) Quality Practices & Measurement, 3) Manufacturing Processes and Production; 4) Maintenance Awareness.
- A four-function calculator is built into the exam for questions that allow it.
- The test is a 90-minute timed exam.
- The assessment is comprised of a series of multiple-choice items. To answer some questions, you may need to refer to a given graphic, diagram, or image.
- This is a proctored, secure, high-stakes certification exam.
- LSSC testing staff are not authorized to interpret exam scores.
Make an Appointment
Students must schedule an appointment a minimum of 24 hours prior to their intended test day.
All students and examinees must arrive at the beginning of your appointment time. For example, if you select a 9 am - 12 pm time slot, your appointment begins at 9 am, and you must arrive at that start time.
Late arrivals will not be permitted to test and must reschedule.
All testers must have a scheduled appointment. If you do not have an appointment, you will not be permitted to test. Walk-ins are not permitted.

Day of Test
- Students must present a valid photo ID.
- Students must check-in at the Testing Center.
- Students will not be allowed to enter testing lab if they arrive late.
MSSC Testing Environment and Behavior
- Cheating, sharing test content, or disruptive behavior will result in immediate dismissal, invalidation of testing score, and possible disciplinary action subject to the College’s Academic Integrity Policy.
- Any violation of academic integrity will further be reported to MSSC and may prohibit me from taking the MSSC exam at LSSC or any other affiliated testing centers.
- Students are required to follow all MSSC and NOCTI-specific testing protocols.
