What is the TEAS? How can I get an ATI username?

Answer

General Information

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a standardized entrance exam used by many nursing schools in the United States to assess a candidate's readiness for nursing programs. The TEAS is developed and administered by the Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI).

Students must schedule an appointment a minimum of 24 hours prior to their intended test day.  Testing Services only provides the TEAS test to current Lake Sumter State students with a valid XID.  You will be asked to provide your XID number prior to testing.

  • The TEAS exam is a 209-minute timed exam. If you leave the room for any reason without permission, you will not be permitted to make up time missed. You may not access any of your personal belongings during the exam or the break.
  • You may use a pop-up calculator on the computer screen for questions that allow it. The use of personal calculators is strictly prohibited.
  • The TEAS exam contains multiple-choice, multiple-select, fill in the blank, and hotspot questions in four sections:
      • Reading – 55 minutes to answer 45 questions
      • Math – 57 minutes to answer 38 questions
      • Science – 60 minutes to answer 50 questions
      • English – 37 minutes to answer 37 questions
      • For each section, there will be a timer at the top of your screen that displays the amount of time remaining for that section. Please be aware of the time you have remaining in each section – you will not be allowed to revisit any section once its time is finished.
      • You must turn in all scratch paper after you have finished your exam.
      • Read the question and options entirely before you answer. Unanswered questions are scored as incorrect.

Create Your ATI Account

Follow the directions below to create your ATI account.  You must do this step prior to the day of your test.  If you do not have a username and password on the testing date, you will not be able to test.

Go to ATI and on the top right-hand corner, click create account

Follow all instructions after clicking create account and bring your username and password with you on the day of the test.

Make an Appointment

Students must schedule an appointment a minimum of 24 hours prior to their intended test day.

All students and examinees must arrive at the beginning of your appointment time.  For example, if you select a 9 am - 12 pm time slot, your appointment begins at 9 am, and you must arrive at that start time.

Late arrivals will not be permitted to test and must reschedule.

All testers must have a scheduled appointment.  If you do not have an appointment, you will not be permitted to test.  Walk-ins are not permitted.
