General Information
The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a series of standardized tests through College Board that allow individuals to earn college credit for knowledge they already possess, bypassing the need to take certain courses.
Registration and Identification Requirements
- Students are required to create an account, register, and pay the College Board fee for the Clep exam at clep.collegeboard.org.
- Students are required to present a valid, government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, passport). The name on the ID must exactly match the name on the CLEP ticket.
- If you are underage and do not have a valid form of photo ID, students must visit the College Board website and print, fill out, and present the Clep Student ID Form located here under Resources at the bottom of the page: https://clep.collegeboard.org/test-day/what-to-bring-on-test-day.
- This form is valid only if signed and sealed by a notary or school official (Counselor or Principal). Forms signed by school officials must be printed on school stationery.
- Students cannot test without proper identification and registration documentation.
CLEP Testing Rules and Expectations
- Clep exams are administered on a computer, and exams are timed (typically 90–120 minutes depending on the subject).
- When allowed, calculators are built into the exam for students to access; no external calculator is permitted.
- Some scores will be available upon completion. For any exam that requires an essay, students must wait 7 business days to check their College Board account for their scores.
- The student is responsible for sending any Clep transcripts to any institution via their College Board account.
Testing Environment and Behavior:
- Cheating, sharing test content, or disruptive behavior will result in immediate dismissal, cancellation of scores, and possible disciplinary action subject to the College’s Academic Integrity Policy.
- All testing violations will be reported to the College Board.
- Students will not discuss, copy, record, or share any part of the CLEP before, during, or after the exam. The content of CLEP exams is confidential and unauthorized reproduction is prohibited.
Retesting and Score Reporting
- CLEP scores are available through the student's College Board account and not released by the LSSC Testing Center.
- Students are responsible for choosing the correct institution to receive their scores/send transcripts during the CLEP registration process and after the exam is completed.
Accommodated Testing
- If students require testing accommodations for a disability, they must contact the College Board and Lake-Sumter’s Student Accessibility Services in advance to receive approval.
- Accommodations must be coordinated with both the College Board, LSSC Student Accessibility Services, and LSSC Testing Services prior to the test date.
- Please reach out to the SAS (Student Accessibility Services) Department prior to scheduling your appointment. Contact information: https://www.lssc.edu/sas/ or 352-365-3589.
Make an Appointment
Students must schedule an appointment a minimum of 24 hours prior to their intended test day.
All students and examinees must arrive at the beginning of your appointment time. For example, if you select a 9 am - 12 pm time slot, your appointment begins at 9 am, and you must arrive at that start time.
Late arrivals will not be permitted to test and must reschedule.
All testers must have a scheduled appointment. If you do not have an appointment, you will not be permitted to test. Walk-ins are not permitted.
